The year 2025 marks a significant anniversary for Øresunddirekt, celebrating 25 years of cross-border co-operation between Denmark and Sweden. Starting with the opening of the Øresund Bridge in 2000, Øresunddirekt has played a central role in making life easier for people and businesses in the Øresund region.
Sweden and Denmark have signed a new Øresund agreement that camer into effect on 29 December 2024. The agreement applies to tax on income from the income year 2025 (annual assessment 2026).

As a daily commuter, you are usually taxed according to the SINK tax scheme, but you can choose to be taxed according to the standard Swedish income tax rules. If you do not already have a Swedish personal identity number, you will also need a coordination number, which you can apply for at the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket).
